Alton Petzoldt
Alton Paul Petzoldt, 86, of Mountain Home, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Al was born in Wood River, Neb., on Sept. 10, 1926, to Carl and Hertha Petzoldt, joining siblings Albert and Edna. He grew up on a farm in the Nebraska Sand Hills.
Al served in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. He served most of that time Germany. When he returned home he worked at numerous jobs until he found his life calling as a manager for a propane company until his retirement in 1988. During the many years he worked for the propane company, he and his wife, Sharon, also owned and managed a trailer court and other rentals. When he retired, he built his and Sharon's dream home in Featherville. After several years of living and enjoying life in the hills Al and Sharon moved back to Mountain Home because of health concerns.
Al always enjoyed working with his hands, raising animals, gardening, dancing, time with his family and a good cup of coffee.
Al is survived by his wife, Sharon, son Robert and his wife, Wanda, son Allen and his wife, Nancy, daughter Gayla and her husband, Ron, daughter Lana and her husband, Dennis, son Kirk, daughter Annette, son Brad and his wife, Crystal, son Greg and his wife, Kim, son Stacy and his wife, Susan, son Aaron and his wife, Misty, his mother-in-law Helen, his brother-in-laws Leroy and Tony, his sister-in-law Carol, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Albert, sister Edna, his son, Larry, and his grandson, Travis.
