Volleyball team drops two
Mountain Home High School's Lady Tigers lost conference volleyball matches to Middleton and Kuna last week.
Middleton 25, 25, 20, 25
Mountain Home 10, 11, 25, 19
The Lady Tigers started slow Tuesday night, getting behind two games to none before they finally came up with a win. But the fourth game got away from them as Middleton won the match, three games to one.
"I'd like to be given back the first two sets, because the girls really weren't ready to play, but I'm proud of the girls for the way they played in the third and fourth sets. Unfortunately we let that fourth set slip away from us," Coach Stephen Speak said.
Selena Foster and Tessa Pachner both had five kills for Mountain Home. Emma Wenger had four blocks and Ksyenya Peterson had 10 assists.
Kuna 25, 25, 25
Mountain Home 22, 15, 23
The Lady Tigers battled Kuna tough but were swept by the Lady Kavemen in three tough games last Thursday night at Kuna.
Kuna won the first game 25-22, took the second 25-15 and claimed the match with a 25-23 win in game three.
"The girls played decent at times, but made a lot of mental errors and had some poorly timed missed serves," said Coach Mau after the match.
Ksyenya Peterson had 14 assists for Mountain Home, while Selena Foster finished the game with 12 kills and nine digs.
The Lady Tigers played at the Wood River Invitational volleyball tourney Sept. 14 to 15. They went through pool play 2-1, beating Wood River and Borah and losing to Preston. They opened bracket tournament play with a win over Kimberly but lost to Wood River in the second round and lost a close match to Timberline in the elimination round.
For the tournament, Selena Foster made the all-tournament team.
Mountain Home was at Emmett om Tuesday night and travels to Bishop Kelly on Thursday, Sept. 27.
