Judy Gulley
Judy Cathren (Henderson) Gulley, 61, of Mountain Home, passed away, Sept. 5, 2012, in Boise following a two-year fight against ovarian cancer, with husband Bill and friends by her side.
Judy was born July 15, 1951, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to U.L. and Sara Henderson. Judy has one sister, Elizabeth Simon.
On July 14, 1979, Judy married Bill Gulley at St. John's Baptist Church, her family church in Tuscaloosa.
Judy graduated from Tuscaloosa H.S. in 1969; then, from Miles College, in Birmingham, with a B.A. degree in sociology in 1973. She also earned a M.A. degree in Child Development from Novus University in 2004.
She served the federal government for 36 years.
She was an Air Force commissioned officer for 12 years and held several administrative positions.
Then, as a 24-year civil servant, she was director of several child development centers and Chief, Family Member Programs and two years as NAF Human Resources director.
Judy grew up playing softball and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, bowling, and volleyball. She was blessed with the ability to befriend anyone, and enjoyed meeting people and opening her home, and heart, to others.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, U.L. and Sara Henderson; and sister, Elizabeth Simon.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Gulley, two daughters, one son, and one grandchild.
A family viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., Sept. 12 at Rost Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Sept. 13, at No Limits Christian Ministries, Mountain Home. Burial, with military honors, will follow at 2 p.m., in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
