Catholic community dedicates new fellowship hall

Friday, July 6, 2012
The Most Rev. Michael P. Driscoll, bishop of Boise, recites a blessing from a book held by Father Ben Uhlenkott, parish priest for the local Catholic church, during Saturday's dedication ceremony. The event culminated years of planning that was often met by setbacks as the local Catholic community sought to tie together the existing church with a gathering place for parishioners.

Years of planning marked by various challenges and setbacks finally came to fruition as the Catholic community formally opened its new parish fellowship hall Saturday morning.

"We are the living stones of this church... and this blessing is an opportunity to gather together and celebrate," said the Most Rev. Michael P. Driscoll, bishop of Boise, who officiated the event.

  • This isn't another church. This is a place for the social events of a long-existing church in Mountain Home to take place. Community and spirituality are important aspects of Christianity, and now the area's Roman Catholics have an appropriate place for these events, as well as to serve the rest of the Mountain Home community and the surrounding areas, as well.

No need to try to make this out to be "insignificant", zombie; it matters to those who wish to participate, as well as to those who reach out for help in one way or another.
