Katherine Taylor
Katherine Taylor passed away peacefully of natural clauses April 18, 2012, at home in Boise, Idaho, with her family at her side. Katherine was born Aug. 1, 1926 in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Mary and Pete Gecich.
Katherine moved to the Lewiston Orchards with her family in 1927. Katherine, along with her brothers, Alex, Bob and Pete Jr. and sisters Rosalie, Janet and Betty, helped with the family orchard where they raised cherries and raspberries.
Katherine graduated from Lewiston High School in 1944 where she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Marvin L. Taylor. They were married on Oct. 1, 1950, and celebrated 61 wonderful years together. They had three children, Clinton, Marvin Jr. and Kim.
Katherine was a very artistic person. She loved designing flower arrangements, tole painting, gardening, antique collecting and refinishing furniture. Katherine and Marvin moved to Boise in 1984 where she operated Homestead Furniture until her retirement.
Retirement didn't last long as she just couldn't get selling furniture out of her system. She was asked to work parttime for DeMeyer Furniture in Mountain Home. Part-time soon turned into full-time as she loved to help people with their furnishing needs.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin L. Taylor of Boise, Idaho; sons Clinton and his wife April of Nampa, Idaho; Marvin Taylor Jr. of Boise, Idaho; daughter Kim Donner and her husband Ritch of Meridian, Idaho; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Robert Gecich of Lewiston, Idaho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alex Gecich; sisters Rosalie Rasmussen, Janet Rasmussen, and Betty Lyman; and brother Pete Gecich Jr.
We all loved Katherine's love and devotion to her family, her unselfish giving and her quick-witted humor.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Cremation Society of Idaho's Reception Room located at 5541 Overland Road in Boise, Idaho.
