Phillip Wazny
Phillip Carl Wazny, 43, of Mountain Home passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich., at a later date.
Phil was born in Saginaw, Mich., on Aug. 27, 1968, the son of Donald and Alexis Wazny. Phil graduated from Freeland High School where he lettered in various sports. He was an avid sports fan, loving his Detroit Tigers, Lions and his beloved Red Wings.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1986, and in 1988 he married his high school sweetheart, Deniece Sandula. Together, they lived in England, Germany, Montana, Alaska and Idaho. During the Middle East conflicts, Phil was deployed to Saudi, Qatar and Kuwait.
While in England, they added daughter Phelicia to their family. Later, while stationed in Alaska, their son, Logan, was born.
Phil was a security forces craftsman in the Air Force for 22 years until his retirement in May 2010 as a master sergeant. Phil continued to work at Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Survivors to cherish his memory are his wife, Deniece; his daughter, Phelicia; son, Logan; parents Don and Janice Wazny; Alexis and Rob Petro; mother in-law Myra Oyerly; sister Amy Wazny and her partner Sara Nolan; sister in-law Wendy and her husband, Gary Fitzmaurice; niece Brenna Fitzmaurice; nephew Nolan Schofield; and numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
