Lucille Gale Mitchell
Lucille Gale Mitchell, 88, of Boise, (formerly Glenns Ferry), passed away peacefully February 2, 2012 following a courageous battle with ALS. A viewing will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mtn Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Glenns Ferry VFW Hall and burial will follow at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry.
One of 10 children, Lucille was born, August 9, 1923 in Nampa, to Joseph and Anna Janousek. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters and one grandson.
She married V.O. Freeman January 16, 1938. She was widowed June 30, 1958. Lucille later married Clifford Mitchell December 16, 1960. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Lucille enjoyed bowling, ceramics, crocheting, card club with life-long friends. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and early jobs included driving school bus in Glenns Ferry and working as a cashier in the Merc. Volunteer activities included many years spent placing flowers for Memorial Day. She had an adventurous spirit, wicked sense of humor and loved to travel. Travel abroad included Europe and the Caribbean. More recently, she and Cliff spent time traveling to Jackpot, Nevada, a favorite destination. She is described as a good Mom, family/community historian and true Matriarch.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Clifford W. Mitchell, her brother Clarance Janousek, 2 sons Lawren and Wilton Freeman and daughter Marilyn Jackson as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
