Norman Petty
Norman J. Petty, 81, of Mountain Home, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at a local hospital. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, from 4-6 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, on Friday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Norman was born on July 30, 1930, in Cozad, Neb., the son nof Hurschel W. and Ruth M. (Jones) Petty. He attended schools in Meridian, Boise and Mountain Home. He joined the U.S. Navy and served three years during the Korean conflict.
After returning to Mountain Home, Norman married Louise Mound in April of 1954. He worked for Civil Service at Mountain Home Air Force Base and retired after 30 years of service.
Norman enjoyed camping, traveling and woodworking.
Norman is survived by his wife, Louise, of Mountain Home, his four children, Brian and his wife, Galilea Petty, of Houston, Texas, Michael and his wife, Stella Petty, of Magnolia, Texas, Laurie and her husband, Karl Miller, of Meridian, and Ray and his wife, Sarah Petty, of Troutdale, Ore., his brother, Richard Petty of Nampa, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
