Billie Jacobsen
Billie Dawn Jacobsen, 72, of Hammett, passed away on Nov. 2, 2011, at her home, surrounded by family, after a seven-year battle with cancer.
A viewing will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Bille was born in Bellevue, on Aug. 24, 1939, to Charles and Mary West. The family purchased a small acreage in Acequia in 1954, where Billie lived until her marriage to Kay in 1961.
Kay and Billie moved to the Mountain Home area in 1973. In 1974 they began a long and happy career with the Blanksma Family (Golden Sun Farm), where they currently remain. Billie took great pride in feeding the Blanksma crew during fall harvest. Billie's "Harvest Kitchen" was well-known throughout the valley.
Kay and Billie raised eight children together. They have 29 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Billie's greatest joys were her family.
She loved going camping and fishing and making quilts for her new grandbabies.
Billie is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Kay. Daughters: Pam Mooney (John), Tessie Shoemaker (Frank), Tina Carney (Pat), Gayle Jacobsen (Joe), Candy Gilbert (Berney), Fritzie King. Sons: Chick (Rita), Mike (Shawna). Brothers: Robert (Linda), David (Bonnie), Rod (Janice).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary West, her father, Charles West, and grandson Richard Carney.
