Susan Hammett
Susan Elizabeth Groves Hammett, 70, of Mountain Home, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at a Boise hospital.
Services will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, with a memorial services at 10 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, followed by 3 p.m. inurnment services at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
Susan was born to Jesse Martin and Lillie Mai Patrick Groves in Springfield, Tenn. She was raised in Florida and Georgia.
She met the love of her life in 1956 in Macon, Ga., while Larry was stationed at Robins Air Force Base. They were married in Macon in July of 1958. After traveling around with the Air Force they settled in Mountain Home in 1971. Mountain Home quickly became their home.
Susan worked 36 years with the Civil Service, retiring in 2007 with the 366 Contracting Squadron.
She was a member of the Christian and Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi and NARFE.
Susan is survived by her husband, Larry, her son, Cornell Martin, both of Mountain Home, her daughter, Margaret Lea Bauer, of Montana, two grandchildren, Amanda Lea Bowman and Larry James Bauer, three great-grandchildren, Timothy James "TJ" Bowman, Mackenzie Leaann Bowman and Hunter Avery Bowman.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the Christian & Baptist Church, 265 N. 4th East St., Mountain Home, ID 83647, or a favorite charity.
