The newest addition on the Local Joe "Shop Local" campaign is the use of QR codes. A QR code is a two dimensional bar code created by a Japanese corporation in 1994. QR stands for quick response. All smart phones (i.e. Iphone, Blackberry, Druids, etc) have free applications available to scan a QR code. By scanning the code, you go to their business web site and find offers or information. You can star the business to remember to visit again and read and write reviews. Technology is amazing!

QR codes are relatively new to our area. For the most part, you would have started seeing them in magazines and newspapers. You will find QR code at the video store and you will find the latest movies available, the movie theater offers a special offer, a realtors office will guide you to houses available, a local contractor was hired for some jobs from his local Joe QR code and there will be more stories such as these as the Qr gain in popularity.
