Mark Whitney
Mark Travis Whitney, 53, of Golden Valley, Ariz., formerly of Mountain Home, died on July 21, 2011.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 29, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Rost Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Mark was born Aug. 30, 1957, to Ray and Dorothy (Pattan) Whitney in Counsel, Idaho.
He was schooled in Mountain Home and after high school Mark worked on the Riddle Ranch for a time until joining the Navy.
After serving his country, Mark lived in many of the southern states while working construction until finally settling in Arizona. Mark enjoyed sculpting with soft clay and black powder western reenactment entertainment.
Mark is survived by a son, Patrick Forant of Golden Valley, Ariz., mother Dorothy Whitney of Emmett, Idaho, brother Brandt "Tut" and wife Betty 'Murphy" Whitney of Nenana, Alaska, sisters Dani Rae and husband Tom Jenkins of Vernal, Utah, and Barbette and husband Justin Dormire of Mountain Home, Idaho, and his girlfriend, Janice Singer, of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray, brother Kimberly and son Travis.
