John McCrostie
John McFarlane McCrostie, 76, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Mountain Home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am, on Friday, July 15, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 26 Honor Guard and Mountain Home Air Force Base Honor Guard. Internment will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise at 2 p.m.
John was born to John David McCrostie and Martha McGraw Baxter on June 3, 1935, in East Orange, N.J. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954.
He met Beverly Jo Parham while stationed in Denver, Colo., and they married in Sterling, Colo., in 1955.
During his 22 1/2 years in the USAF, John and Beverly lived in Colorado, California, North Dakota, Michigan and Idaho while stateside, and overseas in Morocco, England and Japan.
After retiring as a master sergeant in the weapons field in 1976, he immediately began working for the City of Mountain Home. John retired from the City of Mountain Home in 1997 as superintendent of public works.
John actively participated in the American Legion for 33 years, served three times as past commander of Post 26 and was an active member of the 40/8.
His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to Beverly, his wife of 55 years, John is survived by his three children, John Andrew McCrostie (David) of Boise, James David McCrostie (Jodie) of Nampa, and Kimberly Ann Lauzon (Timothy), and his grandchildren, Madison, Hayden, Liam, Zakkary, and Zoey.
