Evelyn Edwards
Evelyn Horgan Edwards, 95, of Mountain Home, died peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at a local care center.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 11, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
Evelyn was the last of the original Horgan family that settled in Mountain Home over 100 years ago. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, none siblings, her husband, Charles H. Buckel, daughter Mary Jo McCoy and son Charles E. Buckel.
Evelyn is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Mountain Home residents Tom (Janet) Horgan, Betty Thompson, and Bob (Mary) Horgan, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including her grandchildren Susan (Russ) Madeira and David (Deborah) Olsen.
Evelyn attended Mountain Home schools, graduating from Mountain Home High School as valedictorian in 1934.
She married Charles H. in 1936, but he died in 1958.
She married Dale Edwards in Anchorage, Alaska, where she was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Evelyn lived in Oregon, Alaska and Arizona but returned to Mountain Home 30 years ago as this was always her home. She had many fond memories of this town and the people.
Evelyn will always be remembered for her kindness, chocolate chip cookies, pies but most of all for the special way she touched so many lives.
