Jack Hawkins
Jack David Hawkins, 61, of Mountain Home, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at a Boise hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery with military honors by American Post #26 and the Idaho Honor Guard.
Jack was born on March 24, 1949, in Salina, Kan., the son of Wilburn and Dorothy (Laughter) Hawkins.
He was a graduate of Mountain Home High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1969 and was stationed in California as an aircraft mechanic.
Jack has two daughters, Brenda, who is a member of the U.S. Air Force and currently stationed in Germany, and Debbie and her daughter, Analiha, who was the apple of Jack's eye, and a soon-to-be grandson. All live in Mountain Home.
Jack was the owner/operator of Jack's Body Shop for several years. He was a member of the Mountain Home Elk's Lodge and a member of American Legion Post #26. Jack was very active with the American Legion in all aspects, including being the commander of the American Legion Honor Guard.
He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being in the outdoors.
Jack is survived by his two daughters, Brenda and Debbie, his sister, Anita Hill, and his brother, Floyd Hawkins, both of Wisconsin, granddaughter Analiha and a soon-to-be-grandson.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
