Latest census figures show population decline
While the state saw a 21 percent increase in total population over the past 10 years, Mountain Home and Elmore County watched their numbers fall, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The current census numbers put the city's population at approximately 11,900 people with a total of 28,166 individuals living in the county.
Local numbers for the last few years are based on the American Community Survey conducted each month by the census bureau, which polls 3 million people across the nation. Methodology used to compile the statistics in that ongoing survey includes a margin of error of up to 3 percent in some cases.
