Man dies in I-84 head-on crash
A Twin Falls man was killed Saturday on I-84 west of Mountain Home when apparently crossed through the median and collided with a semi-truck.
Khom Sibounheuang, 70, was eastbound in a 1989 Toyota pickup at about 5:30 p.m. when, for unknown reasons, he crossed through the median into the westbound lanes of travel where he collided with a semi. Sibounheuang died instantly upon impact.
The semi driver, Paul I. Hendrieth, 58 of Hollywood, Fla., was transported to Elmore Medical Center and later released with minor injuries. The right lane of the westbound traffic was blocked for several hours as emergency crews cleaned up the accident.
The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police Trooper Higley, with assistance from Sergeant Stauffer, Trooper Carmack, Trooper Ferris as well as ITD, Elmore County deputies and EMS personnel.
