Carlene Waterman
Carlene Elaine Weiss Waterman was born March 23, 1931, in Emmett, to William T. Weiss and Hazel Newman Weiss.
She passed away as a result of a torn mitral valve on Sept. 22, 2010, in Mountain Home, where her daughter and son-in-law took care of her.
A memorial service will be held at the Bible Baptist Church in Payette on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
She spent her childhood summers in the mountains near McCall, where her father worked for the CCC.
Carlene graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1949. She and her cousins, Clayne and Cloris Cooper, attended the same school so they could spend that year together. Carlene went on to graduate from St. Al's school of nursing as an R.N.
She met her husband while attending Baptist Temple. They were married on Oct.12, 1956, in Boise.
Their first home was a trailer they pulled along as Howard worked in different areas for Idaho Power.
Daughter Joye was born in 1959.
In 1961, they moved to Payette where Howard taught school. Carlene worked nights at area hospitals for a few years then worked at Casa Loma Nursing Home for the remainder of her career. In 1966. son Jon was adopted, making the family complete.
After retirement they traveled through Europe and visited Hawaii a couple of times. They've spent the last 20 winters at their home in Apache Junction, Ariz. They formed many deep friendships there over the years.
Mom was a prayer warrior! The list of those mom prayed for was enough to fill a book. Many lives were changed as she went to Jesus in petition for others. Mom was the center around which our family revolved. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by husband, Howard, daughter Joy Snider (David) of Mountain Home, son Jon Waterman of Wenatchee, Wash., daughter-in-law Gabriela Waterman (who was as close to mom as a daughter) of Mountain Home, her grandchildren, Jacob Snider of Boise. Rachel Smith (George) of Boise, Ben Snider of Mountain Home, Collum Waterman, (Margeaux Estrada) of Mountain Home and Ciara Waterman of Mountain Home, great-grandchildren Zach Snider, Nola Smith, Sienna Waterman and Bailey Waterman, brother Billy Weiss (Phylis), sister-in-law Carol Waterman, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Ellis.
The family would like to thank all the friends that sent cards and calls of encouragement. To Horizon Home Health and Hospice. To granddaughter Ciara who took care of Gran until her health deteriorated. To Cheyene who has made it possible for dad to stay in the family home.
Please make any donations to the Gideons or Bible Baptist Church in Carlene's name.
