Ernie Smisek
Ernest "Ernie" William Smisek, 77, of Mountain Home, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 16, at Mountain View Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post #26. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Ernie was born on Oct. 27, 1932, in Exeter, Neb., to Joe and Alice Smisek. He was the seventh child of nine children.
He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in France.
Ernie moved to Mountain Home in 1968. He worked for Simplot Soilbuilders from March of 1965 to October 1994.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda, his children, Roxanne Davidson of Arkansas, Pam McCrary of Arkansas, Doug Smisek of Boise, Stacy Smisek of Moscow, Kimberly Engelbrecht of Nampa, Kerre Laabs of Litchfield Park, Ariz., his brother, Fred Smisek of Salem, Ore., brother Earl Smisek of Firth, Neb., a sister, Ann Anderson of Albuquerque, N.M., and 14 grandchildren.
Ernie loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved being a father and grandpa, and sharing stories about the past. He loved wood working in his garage and building new things. He loved going to have coffee with his pals at the coffee shop every morning. He will be deeply missed by all.
