Mountain Home wrestler places at state Mountain Man event

Mountain Home Mountain Man wrestler Charlie Shoemaker recently competed at the State Mountain Man Wrestling Tournament in Lewiston where he placed fourth in Greco-Roman and fifth in freestyle.

He also qualified to be on the national freestyle team that will compete in Fargo, N.D., this summer. He also was selected for the Cadet Dual team that will travel to Rochester, Mich., this summer.

The regional tournament will be held in Pocatello in June. Attending the regional with Charlie will be Nicholas Shoemaker, Tanner Sessions and Trevor Dockstader.

"It is a huge honor for Charlie to be invited to go to these tournaments, and a great opportunity for him," said Nikki Markham with the Mountain Home Mountain Man wrestling club.

"Going to all these tournaments is a huge expense. We are asking for sponsors for Charlie to help him with all these expenses. If there is anyone who would like to sponsor him, call Lynn Knudson or Nikki Markham at 599-1550, or 587-2604. Charlie will be going out into the community gathering sponsors. His first tournament is the second week in June, and we would like to have the $2,000 raised by the time he goes to Fargo."
