Losing Dr. Jeffrey would be terrible
Dear editor:
I lived the last 29 years in a remote Wyoming town where access to medical care was extremely limited. By the time I moved here in July of 2009, I was almost 65, in pain, and sick.
Then in September I discovered Dr. Allan Jeffrey of Trinity Mountain Medical Center.
In the past six months, thanks to Dr. Jeffrey's hard work, patience and knowledge, things have turned around for me, and I feel better than I have for 25 years.
First, Dr. Jeffrey saw that a medication I was on was causing a problem worse than it was treating. So he took me off that. Then, he got me effective physical therapy for my arthritic back and now I'm out of pain and can do things I haven't been able to do for years.
Then, he discovered a long-undiagnosed sleep apnea, treated it, and now I'm alert and rested enough to enjoy life. He helped me operate my apnea machine.
When my stomach problems wouldn't respond to treatment, he found me a specialist in Boise, and now that problem's manageable. When I could no longer tolerate my osteoporoses, he handled the complicated paperwork to get me coverage for the more expensive injection. As he did all this, he managed my diabetes and high blood pressure.
Now I hear Dr. Jeffrey's contract with Trinity Mountain will not be renewed! From my standpoint, that was a very foolish decision.
I believe that the people who made that decision will someday need a good doctor and will be unable to find one.
