Lady Tigers improve to 8-2; crush Columbia, Skyview
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers looked in fine form last week in picking up wins over Columbia and Skyview.
Mountain Home 67, Columbia 14
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers shot a torrid 62 percent from the field in the first half and 53 percent for the game as they mauled the Columbia Lady Wildcats 67-14 Thursday night at Columbia.
Mountain Home shot out to a 21-7 first quarter lead. They led 47-11 at the half and 64-13 after three.
Mountain Home Lady Tiger Coach Brent Keener was extremely pleased with his Lady Tigers' efforts.
"That was a complete effort. I'm very pleased with that. I don't think we ever let up. We did a good job defensively and really got it going."
All nine Mountain Home players got in the game with eight scoring. Dakota Barrie led the way with 19 points, Shelby Posey had 15 points, Jessica Liercke added 10, Blas Lord nine, Charde Huntington five, Rachel Warila four, Arlene Futch three and Amanda Osborn two.
Mountain Home shot 62 percent from the field in the first half and 53 percent for the game. They shot 61 percent from the free-throw line.
Columbia shot just 12 percent, going 4-for-39 from the field and 42 percent from the charity stripe. Columbia turned the ball over 30 times to the Lady Tigers.
Mountain Home also out-rebounded the Lady Wildcats 34-20, led by Shelby Posey with eight.
Mountain Home 52, Skyview 22
The Lady Tigers held Skyview scoreless in the first quarter on their way to a 52-22 win over the Lady Hawks Saturday afternoon in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium in Mountain Home.
After jumping out to a 19-0 first quarter lead, Mountain Home poured through 23 more in the second to take a 42-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.
"It was another great effort," said Coach Keener. "Not only did we have a good defensive effort the whole game, but our offense looked really sharp, especially in that first half."
Once again all nine Mountain Home team members played, with seven of them scoring.
Shelby Posey led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds. Blas Lord had 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Jessica Liercke scored eight points and had eight rebounds.
Rachel Warila added six points, Charde Huntington and Dakota Barrie both scored four, and Amanda Osborn had two points to round out the scoring.
The Lady Tigers improved to 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.
Mountain Home hosted Parma in a non-conference game on Dec. 20. They open the new year Jan. 7 at Bishop Kelly.
