Lady sophomores divide series
The Mountain Home Lady Tiger sophomores managed a split of their conference basketball games last week, losing at Columbia but winning at home against Skyview.
Columbia 28, Mountain Home 21
Columbia made a 10-0 run in the first half, and a 16-0 run in the second half, to pull away for a 38-21 conference win over the Lady Tiger sophomores Thursday night at Columbia.
A 7-0 run by Mountain Home in the first quarter put the Lady Tigers up 7-2 with 2:30 left in the first quarter, but Columbia answered with a 10-0 run to go up 12-7 midway through the second.
Mountain Home got back within two, at 14-12, on a trey by JaDene Palmer with three minutes left in the half. Columbia then started another run that continued into the third quarter and reached 16-0 before a basket by Kacee Cameron ended it with 1:50 left in the quarter. It was 30-14, Columbia, after three.
Mountain Home was unable to mount any kind of a rally in the fourth and lost 38-21.
Kacee Cameron and JaDene Palmer both scored five points to lead the Mountain Home scoring. Courtney Frank and Marissa Streeter both scored three points, Tessa Pachner and Emilee Schetzle each scored two and Emma Wenger added one point.
Mountain Home 38, Skyview 36
The Lady Tigers built up a good lead in the first half, and held on to beat Skyview at home, 38-36, Saturday afternoon in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
Mountain Home jumped out to a 12-7 first quarter lead and stretched it to 26-17 at the half. The Lady Tigers led 29-26 heading into the fourth and held on for a 38-36 win.
Emilee Schetzle led Mountain Home with a season-high 20 points, JaDene Palmer netted eight points, Alexis Berry had six and Kacee Cameron put in four points.
