V. Gengerich named new EMC trustee
Bruneau area farmer/rancher Verlin Gingerich has been appointed to the Elmore Medical Center Hospital District Board of Trustees.
Gingerich was appointed to fill the board seat vacated by Dr. Jerrie LeFevre, who resigned recently. Gingerich will fill the position as an appointed trustee until the Board of Trustee election in February, at which time he will be eligible to be elected to permanently fill the position until the term expires in 2012.
An Elmore County resident since 1969, Gingrich noted he has always loved the area. After attending pharmacy school he worked as a pharmacist for approximately 20 years in Lewiston, Glenns Ferry and Mountain Home. His father homesteaded off the Snake River where he learned to farm and when the opportunity arose to purchase a farm next door, he did so.
He worked regular hours at the pharmacy and farmed evenings and weekends. Eventually his love of ranching won and he decided to retired from pharmacy work.
Gingrich has served on several committees and boards in the past including 12 years as a trustee on the Mountain Home School District Board of Trustees.
"There is so much to learn, I am asking a lot of questions," Gingerich said. "Things have changed at the hospital from the way it was when I helped develop a formulary for pharmacy many years ago."
Hospital board trustees are elected to serve six-year terms and do not receive compensation for serving.
Gingrich will be joining current trustees Dr. John Bideganenta, Bill Ringert, Jack Walborn, Mari Young, Ann Wilson and Bob Bennett.
