Donna Carothers
Donna Carol Carothers, 76, of Grand View, passed away on Nov. 18, 2009, at a Boise hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, at Knight Community Church. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Grand View.
Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Donna was born on Oct. 3, 1933, in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of William and Amy Freckelton. The family left Rupert when Donna was in second grade and moved to the Boise Valley. In 1951, Donna graduated from Meridian High School.
On Oct. 8, 1951, Donna married Calvin Carothers and moved to Grand View. Together they owned and operated Calıs Truck Stop, including the Y Bar and Café next to the truck stop. They were also owners of an apartment complex and a custom framing business.
Donna was the Grand View City Clerk and for a time worked as the clerk in the assessorıs office in Murphy.
In 1964 they lived on Castle Creek, which was one of the most memorable times in her familyıs life.
Donna enjoyed yard work, crocheting, stain glass, fishing, camping and loved raising her kids. She was a member of the Knight Community Church and was past president of the Grand View Lioness.
After Calvin's passing in 1971, Donna married Raymond McQueen in 1979. He later died in 1991.
Donna is survived by her children: Terry and his wife, Jackie Carothers, of Grand View, Marilyn and her husband, Dee Messick, of Grand View, Rebecca and her husband, Lee Blanthorn, of Battle Mountain, Nev., her brother, Melvin Freckelton, of Grand View, her stepson, Mark, and his wife, Vicki McQueen, of Boise, her stepdaughter, Melba, and her husband, Joe Reger, of Boise, five grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Calvin, one brother, two sisters, her second husband and a stepson.
