Runners place at Kuna race
The Mountain Home Tigers cross country teams ran well at the Gibb Floyd Classic cross country meet in Kuna last Friday.
The Mountain Home girls finished sixth out of nine teams competing and were the top 4A team.
Jordan Vivier led Mountain Home with a 20:42. Kacee Cameron came in with a new personal best 20:52, Haley Schaefer was 20:57 and Shelby McHugh had a new PR of 21:27. Ashley Mayberry ran 22:04, McKenzie Dorr 22:19 and Jennica Quintal 20:57, all new PRs.
Starley Dodge bested her best time with a 26:50 in the JV race.
The Tiger boys also finished sixth out of nine team, with Kuna the only 4A school above them.
Dylan Johnson led the Tiger boys, finishing with a new PR of 17:13. Joe Gutierrez finished at 17:26, Jovanne Carrizales set a new PR with his finish 17:54. Gavin Cline also bettered his best time with a 18:05, as did Jon Dodge at 18:32, Taylor Croft at 18:53, Ruben Gaytan at 19:19, Aaron Menhart's19:43 and Tim Sieber's 19:45.
Of the 21 Mountain Home runners that ran in the race, 20 of them set new personal records for time.
"The kids ran very, very well today," said Tiger cross country coach Doug Root. "Twenty out of 21 kids ran personal bests on this course. It was cold and windy, but the kids worked really, really hard."
Root's runners host the annual Mountain Home Invitational Cross Country meet at Desert Canyon Golf Course this Thursday. The first race is set to go at 4 p.m. Thursday at the course.
