JV Tigers rebound, beat Kuna
The Mountain Home Tigers JV football team bounced back from a close loss to Caldwell to down the Kuna JV.
Caldwell 32, Tiger JV 27
The Tigers squared off against Caldwell on Sept. 3 and came out on the short end of a high-scoring 32-27 ball game. Caldwell started out the scoring with a touchdown in the first quarter and added another one in the second to go up 12-0.
Austin Clark got the Tigers on the scoreboard in the second quarter, scoring from 25 yards out. The extra point left the Tigers trailing 7-12.
After Caldwell scored on a long pass play, Clark scored again, this time from 19 yards out. The extra point cut the deficit to 14-19. D.J. Hale scored from three yards out to put the Tigers up 20-19 at halftime.
The Tigers upped its lead to 27-19 when Austin Clark raced 68 yards for a score in the third quarter and added the PAT. Caldwell replied by scoring twice in the fourth to register the 32-27 come-from-behind win.
"Our defense had a tough time stopping their run game in the first quarter-and-a-half and couldn't hold them in key moments of the fourth quarter," said Tiger JV Coach Dallan Rupp.
Clark had 158 yards and three touchdowns on 13 rushes, and Hale had 90 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Alex Rodriguez completed four of eight passes for 65 yards, and had one pass intercepted. Tyler Knauth had one catch for 37 yards, Luke Filipovich caught one for 13 yards, Austin Clark had one catch for eight yards and Ricky Castillo caught one for seven yards.
James Simon led the Tigers defensively with 20 tackles while Jamz Wright had 14. Austin Seegrist had four tackles and an interception.
Tigers 27, Kuna 7
Mountain Home hosted Kuna last Thursday evening at Tiger Field and led from the start in a 27-7 win.
Anthony Ciotti-Lucas excited the home crowd by running back the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Austin Clark's extra point made it 7-0 for Mountain Home just 16 seconds into the ball game.
The Tigers added two scores in the second quarter as Alex Rodriguez scored from two yards out and Austin Clark made a 13-yard run. Clark's extra point kick put the Tigers up 21-0 at halftime.
Austin Clark capped off the Mountain Home scoring in the fourth quarter on a nine-yard run. The PAT was blocked, making it 27-0, Tigers.
Kuna finally scored in the final minute with Jared Wallace scoring on a 56-yard run.
Clark led the Tiger's rushing effort by the Tigers with 201 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. D.J. Hale rushed for 88 yards on 16 rushes, Gage Curtis had four rushes for 48 yards and Alex Rodriguez had 21 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushes.
Alex Rodriguez put the ball in the air six times, completing two of them for three yards with one interception. Hale caught both passes for the three yards.
Jesse Corbett led the Tigers' defense with 12 tackles. James Simon and Alex Rodriguez both had nine tackles and a sack. R.J. Aflague and John Payton both had five tackles, Aflague had two sacks, Payton picked off a pass. Jamz Wright and DJ Hale both had two tackles, Wright had a fumble recovery, Hale had a sack.
