Freshman Tigers edge Kuna to score first season win
The Mountain Home Tigers freshman football team edged the Kuna freshmen,14-12, last Thursday at Tiger Field for the team's first win of the season.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard early as Tyler Rios ran for 59 yards for a touchdown to give Mountain Home a 6-0 lead with 11:10 left in the first quarter.
Kuna managed to tie the game at 6-6 when the Kavemen scored with 2:13 left in the first half.
Tyler Rios then quickly gave Mountain Home the lead back, returning the Kuna kickoff 80 yards for a score. Rios ran in the two-point conversion to put the Tigers up 14-6, at halftime.
Kuna scored in the third quarter when they blocked a Tiger punt and recovered it on the Mountain Home one-yard line. Three plays later, they took it on for the score. The run for two failed, and the Tigers still led 14-12.
That would be all the scoring in the game, as the Tigers prevailed, 14-12.
Tyler Rios rushed the ball 20 times for 90 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Skyler Podesek had three carries for two yards while Ben Ceccarelli had six carries for minus 25 yards as part of Mountain Home's winning effort.
Ben Ceccarelli completed six of 15 passes for 75 yards for the freshman Tigers. Tyler Casey caught three passes for 45 yards, Cameron Hale grabbed two catches for 18 yards while Tyler Rios caught one pass for 12 yards.
