Raymond Minifie
Raymond W. Minifie, Jr., of Dayton, Nev., died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.
Raymond was born on March 28, 1963. He made Nevada his home in 1984, where he married and had a family.
Raymond had two children, Amy Johnstone and Steven Minifie, who were the center of his world. He watched with pride as his son, Steven, approached manhood and became an Eagle Scout. As a father, Raymond loved seeing his daughterıs love of animals and watching her growth up. He also really enjoyed seeing Amy become a mother.
Raymondıs love of life and his laughter were contagious and many people gravitated towards his outgoing personality. In March, 2002, he met his soulmate, best friend, and future wife, Jennifer (Gray) Minifie. That day, Jennifer knew she wanted to marry Raymond, so beginning their journey as a couple. Their life together was full of excitement, fun, romance, and what Jen called "huge love."
Among his many passions, motorcycles were a source of adventure and a constant in his life. He recently completed a cross-country trip with his friend, "Honda" Jim.
Additionally, Raymond loved to camp and his favorite weekend get-away was Twin Lakes, Calif., where he could "get close" with nature.
Of course, fishing was a routine for Raymond. His "early bird" fishing partner was his step-son, Jayden DeJoseph. Raymond's favorite 'fish tale' was an adventure at Tahoe, which brought him a "20" pound (and growing) Mackinaw.
Raymond is survived by his beautiful wife, Jennifer Minifie; father, Raymond Minifie, Sr.; mother, Patricia Thorpe; grandfather, Paul Palmer; sisters, Leslie Hammer (Richard) and Traici Colton (John); daughter, Amy Johnstone (Ryan); son, Steven Minifie; step-children Jayden and Shae DeJoseph; grandchildren, Christopher and Kayden Johnstone.
Raymond lived love and loved life. A celebration for him will be held on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 3:30 p.m. at Walton's Funeral Home in Carson City. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions, which can be made to the Greater Nevada Credit Union to Jennifer Minifie in memory of Raymond Minifie.
