Lady Tigers split three-game series in season debut
The Mountain Home Lady Tigers came away with a split of their conference soccer games last week, beating Emmett and losing to Skyview, both on the road.
Lady Tigers 5, Emmett 1
Mountain Home won for the second time in two outings last Tuesday, when it downed Emmett 5-1 in their SIC 4A conference opener at Emmett.
"It was a good win," said Mountain Home girls soccer coach Dan Snelgrow. "It was a great team effort across the board."
Rachel Warila posted two goals for Mountain Home, Claudia Bermensolo had a goal and two assists, Shelbie Henrick had a goal and an assist, Mady Vines had a goal and Jasmine DeRoy had an assist. Meanwhile, Alicen Wendall picked up six saves on goal.
Skyview 5, Lady Tigers 0
The Lady Tigers stayed with Skyview for a half, but the Lady Hawks pulled away in the second half for a 5-0 win.
Skyview led 1-0 at halftime, and added four goals in the second half for the shutout win.
"We played pretty well the first half," said Coach Snelgrow, "but came out kind of flat the second half. They scored an early goal in the second half, and then things kind of snowballed on us."
Alicen Wendall picked up 16 saves on goal for the Lady Tigers. Mountain Home had just five shots on goal for the game.
The loss dropped the Lady Tigers to 2-1 on the season, and 1-1 in conference girls soccer. Mountain Home hosted Columbia Tuesday and hosts Middleton Thursday.
