Richard Urquidi

Richard Urquidi has announced his intention to run for a third term on the Mountain Home city council.

Born and raised in Mountain Home, he said he wants to see Mountain Home "continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family."

Urquidi graduated from the University of Idaho, with a bachelor's degree in education, majoring in mathematics and political science. He currently teaches mathematics at Mountain Home High School and is the head track and field coach.

"Throughout my eight years on the council, Mountain Home has seen a great deal of growth," he said. "Our budget increased yearly and our infrastructure grew dramatically.

"This last year and a half, like everywhere, our city has seen things slow down drastically. Our current budget has lowered by more than a million dollars. I feel I have the knowledge for budgeting and the inner-workings of city hall to keep Mountain Home moving forward."

If re-elected, Urquidi said, "I will continue to listen to the community's concerns and try to find the best possible solutions. We need to keep Mountain Home the great little community that it has been my whole life."

  • I am curious "freedom," to why you think he deserves a "no" from you? He is one of the best CC we've had in decades. Who could do better?

  • if he's the best, like to see who's the worst. what has he done really,,maybe he should write in MH newspaper all he's done ? the trips he's taken.

everything, I would like to read what he's done.

but I have my reasons and its still a NO NO VOTE

like my Mom used to say "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOoooooooooooo.

  • Best? Really. Wow. Are our standards really that low these days? Could we do worse? Maybe. Could we do better? Always. Demand better and you get better. Settle and you get just what you have. We have enough yes men...more free thinkers who stand up for what they believe would be nice, IMHO. Doing what is right vs. what will get you voted back in would be nice for a change. Someone with a backbone maybe?

  • OM...you've been here for what, 10 years? How would you know who or what MH has had in the past? And Backbone? What exactly have any of the CCs had to decide on that requires "backbone?" The ECCs have had plenty, but the CCs are all working on improving the city and have great plans implemented and in the process of growing (BID). I don't completely agree with everything they've done, but definitely two of them are not "yes men," but do what they believe is right. Urquidi included.
