Mary Lou Thies
Mary Lou Thies, 76, of Mountain Home, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at a Twin Falls hospital.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Mary Lou was born on May 15, 1933, in Bedford, Ind., to James and Essie (Young) Osborne.
Mary Lou enjoyed extensive reading, world travel and world-class cuisine, dining with her husband, Wally, and her children.
She took pride in her work at RCA and sales work with Text Coat as well as her dedication in comforting and caring for the elderly at the Elmore Long Term Care Unit nursing home. She started at the care center as a volunteer, and eight years later it lead to her final position as assistant activities director.
She is survived by her husband Wallace "Wally" of Mountain Home, her sons Greg Thies of Meridian, and Jeff Thies of Melba, her sister Ruth Turner of Indiana, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a very close niece Carol Ann and her husband Darryll Bennett of Indiana, her sister in-law Mary Osborne of Indiana, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers Lowell, Eugene and Verne.
