Gene Tucker
Wilson Eugene "Gene" Tucker, Jr., 60, of Mountain Home, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009.
Graveside Services with military honors were held on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mtn Home.
Gene was born on Sept. 26, 1948, to Wilson and Opal (Estridge) Tucker of Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1966.
He entered the US Air Force on Nov. 19, 1967, as a jet propulsion mechanic.
After graduation from technical school at Chanute AFB, Ill., he was assigned to Keflavik, Iceland. His others assignments included England AFB, La., Lockborne AFB, Ohio, Cannon AFB, N.M., Sembach AB Germany and Comiso AB, Italy.
While stationed at Cannon AFB, he met his wife, Susan, and her son, Tom.
They married on May 30, 1975.
In 1982, he arrived at Mountain Home Air Force Base where he was a Branch Chief of the 366 Component Repair Squadron and also became a First Sergeant.
He retired from active duty on Oct. 31, 1993, and shortly after that worked a few years at the Idaho State Penitentiary in Boise.
He loved to hunt, fish and camp, where he spent many enjoyable hours with family and friends. He was a great hunter who could climb the highest peaks.
He was respected in the community and praised for his distinguished Air Force career.
He was a great husband, father and friend. His memories will remain forever in the minds of all who knew him. He was truly a one of a kind and will be missed.
Gene is survived by his wife, Susan, son Tom, a brother Lloyd Tucker, a sister Linda Fletcher and two granddaughters, Sarah and Elise. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother and one sister.
