Oleen Petro
Oleen L. Petro, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, Aug. 30, 2009.
Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Sept. 4 at noon. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Saint Anne, Ill. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Oleen was born on March 23, 1922, in Saint Anne, Ill., to Lawrence and Lucille Gereau. Oleen graduated from Saint Anne High School in 1940 and married Arthur A. Petro on Feb. 23, 1943. They resided in the small town of Saint Anne, Ill., all of their married life.
Oleen had a catering business in the 1940s and 1950s and became a pharmacy assistant at Martin's Pharmacy in Saint Anne. She later managed the pharmacy until her retirement.
Oleen loved to cook and arrange flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 45 years.
In 1997, she moved to Mountain Home, to be near her son, Greg.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and the Mother Cabrini Sodality.
She is survived by her sister Venita Sorenson of Schaumburg, Ill.; daughter Judith and son-in-law Armand Bloch of Hamilton, Ohio; son Gregory Petro and Sheryl Reyment of Mountain Home; grandsons Todd Bloch of San Francisco, Calif., Joshua Petro and wife Christen of Boise; Jake Reyment of Mountain Home; granddaughters Tricia Bloch of Rabenholz, Germany; Jennifer Reed and husband Duane of Eagle, and great-grandsons Carson and Cole of Eagle.
