Michael Schlegel
Michael L. Schlegel, 63 of Klamath Falls, Oregon passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in Klamath Falls. A graveside service was held July 10, 2009 at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry with military honors by Glenns Ferry VFW Post #3646. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Mike was born in Portland, Oregon, grew up in Klamath Falls and graduated from high school there. He went to the University of Oregon and then enlisted into the US Navy for the next four years during the Viet Nam War. Upon getting out of the service, he married Christina Fisher whom he met while in the Navy. In 1975, they had their only child, a son Jason. Mike worked at Weyerhaeuser Lumber for 18 years until he decided to get the education he had always wanted as an adult psychiatrist. He got a Master's Degree upon his graduation from St. Martin's University in the State of Washington
Mike loved to hunt, fish and commune with nature in the mountains.
Mike is survived by his son Jason of Idaho Falls, his mother Elaine Chafin of King Hill, his father Bennett Owen of Dillon, Montana, his sister Marsha Brasseaux of Pocatello, his sister Shirle Anderson of Meridian, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, also the Shulmire family whom he considered his second family. He was preceded in death by his sister Marietta.
