Lois Jean Irving
Lois Jean Irving, 79, a longtime resident and cherished member of the Glenns Ferry community, passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2009 at her daughter and son-in-laws home in Burley. Services were held on Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Grace Episcopal Church in Glenns Ferry, funeral services were at 1:00pm, burial followed at Glenn Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Lois was born on July 3, 1929, in Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter of Carl Kreizenbeck and Lois Hazel Veal. She attended school in Emmett and married Oral Harvey Irving on February 28, 1953, in Elko, Nevada. They were married 45 years until his passing in 1994.
Lois was a devoted member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Glenns Ferry and Treasurer for over 20 years. She was an active member in the VFW Auxiliary, Ladies of the Moose, Rebecca's, Eastern Star, elections volunteer, Glenns Ferry 8-ball League and League Secretary for 16 years. She worked at Southside Market as a bookkeeper for over 10 years and Hanson's Café for 20 years as a cook and waitress. She loved playing cards, reading, knitting, crafts, playing pool, and camping with her late husband and family.
She is survived by her daughter Hazel and her husband David Rush of Glenns Ferry; her daughter Betty and her husband Ross Shurtz of Burley; her son Art and his wife Velva Irving of Idaho City; her brother Orlando Kreizenbeck of Oklahoma, 5 grandsons Jeff, Dan, Kevin, Troyce, and Albert; granddaughter Dena; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Edna LaVadda, son Cecil Irving, grandson Dale Irving, great grandson Brian Jennings-Exeter and great granddaughter Valerie J. Crawshaw.
