Karen Meredith
Karen Leah Grinnell Meredith, 53, of Arizona, formerly of Mountain Home, died Feb. 11, 2009, surrounded by her loved ones, following a two-year battle against breast cancer.
Services were held Feb. 14 at Adair Funeral Homes in Tucson, Ariz. Her ashes will be scattered per her wishes at a later date.
Karen Leah was born on Dec. 29, 1955, in Nagoya, Japan, to Clair M. and Margaret A. Grinnell.
Her first years were spent with her parents at airbases in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Idaho.
She attended schools in Mountain Home, graduating from Mountain Home High School in 1974.
Karen met her husband, Steven Meredith, and was married in August of 1976.
She joined the U.S. Air Force in 1977 and served until retiring in 1994 as a master sergeant. She and Steve were stationed in England, California, Idaho and Arizona. Their family grew with the addition of Jacob in 1982 and Joseph in 1989.
Karen started a second career as a travel agent, which enabled her to enjoy her passion for seeing the world. She also enjoyed visiting the Arizona Desert Museum, scrapbooking and playing Bunco, but mostly spending time with her family, friends and pets.
Karen is survived by: her husband, Steven; sons Jacob (Alicia) and Joseph; her mother, Margaret Grinnell; sisters Donna (Steven) Bock and Coleen (Michael) Hall; brother Vincent (Karen) Grinnell, one grandson and many nieces, nephews and extended family in Idaho and Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clair Grinnell, and her father-in-law, Harry (Doc) Meredith.
