Richard Rethwill
Richard Martin Rethwill, 69, of Mountain Home, died Nov. 1, 2008, at a local care center.
A wake was held on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Sunset Sports Bar in Mountain Home. A graveside inurnment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Minneota, Minn. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
Richard was born on Oct. 22, 1939, in Minneota, Minn., the son of Martin and Pearl Rethwill. He attended schools in Minneota and Springfield, Minn., before enlisting into the U.S. Air Force in 1957.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1978. He traveled all around the world in the Air Force and settle in Mountain Home after his retirement.
While in Mountain Home he married Cynthia Sanders on Feb. 12, 1988, and worked at several different jobs.
In 1978 Richard worked at Bowman Plumbing for a time. From 1987 to 1990 he was the maintenance man at the Meadows Trailer Park and from 1990 to 1991 he worked as a jailor for the Elmore County Sheriff's Department. From 1991 to 1997 Richard worked at Performance Chevrolet as a maintenance tech and before he retired in 2006 he worked at Stewart Apartments as a maintenance tech.
When Richard wasn't working his hobbies included fishing, NASCAR and darts.
Richard is survived by: his wife, Cynthia A. Rethwill of Merrill, Wisc.; his son, Dave Rethwill of Pascagoula, Miss., as well as his sons from his first marriage to Janet Fisher Rethwill, Mark Rethwill of Seaside, Ore., and Scott Rethwill of Vernonia, Ore.; two grandchildren; his brothers, Tom Rethwill and Bill Rethwill, both of Minnesota, and his sisters, Jeanne "Kitty" Buster of Maryland and Pat Paulsen of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Pearl Rethwill, and his brother, Donald Rethwill.
