JV girls soccer team to host tourney
The Mountain Home Junior Varsity girls soccer team will host the 2008 4A district JV soccer tournament Oct. 10-11 at Eastside Park.
In addition to Mountain Home, Bishop Kelly, Columbia, Middelton, Kuna, Skyview and Nampa teams will take part in the single-elimination tournament.
Games will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. on Oct. 10 and 9-11 a.m. on Oct. 11. A total of six games will be played during those two days.
The Lady Tiger girls take a 5-4-1 record into the tournament.
"We could steal this tournament," Coach Stephen Speak said. "We hope to use our homefield advantage to the max and put our little town on the map against these big-budget schools."
The cost to attend the games is $4 for adults, $2 for students with activity cards, and $1 for senior citizens.
In the week going into the tournament the girls lost Sept. 23 to Columbia 1-3, with Shelby Henrick scoring the lone goal for Mountain Home. Goalie Jasmine Deroy was credited with two saves.
On Sept. 25 the girls defeated Middleton 2-1. Goals were scored by Mady Vines and Shelby Henrick. Goalie Jasmine Deroy was credited with one save.
On Sept. 26 the team easily handled Jerome, 7-0.
Kelly Robins and Shelby Henrick scored two goals each, Mady Vines scored two goals and had an assist, Alandra Rodriguez scored a goal, and Jasmine Deroy was credited with an assist.
