Rec district mulls moving ahead with pool plans
The Mountain Home City Council met with members of the Western Elmore Country Recreation District in a special council meeting Thursday night. The meeting was the first between the two bodies.
WECRD board president Doug Belt told the council the district would like to go to bid on a building in the fall with construction starting after the first of the new year.
However, their fiscal year budget does not show building expenses and Belt said the board does not have a business plan or know how much it will cost residents to use the facility or the annual operation cost of the facility.
The board plans to build a portion of the building, focusing on the facility's aquatic center. The facility will hold two pools, a therapeutic and a recreation pool, which board members said would cost $1.1 million to build.
The aquatic portion of the building is approximately a quarter of the building's proposed 42,422 square feet.
