Tax money should not be used on illegal aliens
Dear editor:
I enjoyed your Notebook on the joys of gardening last week. I agree gardening is work not relaxation.
I also enjoyed your tribute to our great firefighters' 100th birthday. I went to the parade and took pictures of the antique firetrucks.
I was disappointed in your June 18 edition of paper. You did not have a notebook section I always look forward to. Not only that but I disagree with what you said in your editorial rights for non-citizens of the USA. Our constitution was written by U.S. citizens FOR U.S. citizens. I hope our lawmakers remember this. We give basic human rights to others unlike other countries in war do. But if we give illegal aliens the same rights and welfare and other taxpayer benefits, they have no incentive to learn English or get jobs. Our tax money should go to legal citizens who have or are willing to pay taxes. It is no wonder we have so many illegal aliens in the US. They get the same benefits as taxpaying citizens get. I know illegals that work pay income tax but they get a lot more in benefits than they pay. We need to not be so good to illegal aliens. Maybe then they will stay in their own country.
Do not think criminals that are citizens of another country that harm U.S. citizens should be given the same rights as if they were a U.S. citizen. The cost of their legal expense should be paid by whatever country they are a citizen of. But that never happens. The good old USA foots the bill at taxpayer expense.
