"The girls are just really running well right now," said Tiger head track coach Rich Urquidi. "We just lost to the host Vallivue by a few points. The pole vault was the last thing that they scored, and Vallivue won that one so they pulled ahead of us, but we scored in almost everything we ran in, so we're getting people moved to where we need to trying to get ready for district, that's kind of our ultimate goal right now."
Vallivue won the boys competition with 158 points, Capital was second with 139, Skyview next with 67, Kuna, 44, Mountain Home, 35, and Greenleaf Friends Academy, 6.
Tyree Harmon had Mountain Home's only first-place finish, winning the 110-meter high hurdles. Stefen White finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Fourth-place efforts went to Jacob Viola in the 100 meter dash, Garrett Wood in the 300-meter hurdles, Tallon Pauly in the 200 meters, and the Tiger medley relay team of Kyle Kerfoot, Nick Barrie, Tyree Harmon and DeVonte McClain.
Other placers were Nick Barrie, a fifth in the triple jump, and a sixth-place finish for Tallon Pauly in the 100 meters.
"The boys keep running hard," said Coach Urquidi. "We had some good times with some different things. In the 4x200 (relay) we were right in there when Jesse Donez kind of pulled up a little lame with his hamstring -- he kind of stretched it a little bit -- so we had to kind of shift some things around for the rest of the meet in that, but the kids stepped up and ran well that filled in in those spots in the relays. The boys keep jugging along, and they're doing well."
Mountain Home sent a number of athletes to a junior varsity meet at Kuna on Thursday. The Mountain Home girls finished third, while the boys were fourth.
Middleton won the JV girls meet with 135 points, Kuna was a distant second with 84, Mountain Home a distant third with 24, and Vallivue had 14 points.

Fourth place efforts went to Christina Segovia in the 100-meter high hurdles and Victoria Pack in the 300-meter hurdles.
Racquel Dickerson had a fifth place finish in the triple jump.
Middleton won the boys competition with 125 points, Kuna was second with 72.5, Vallivue had 31, Mountain Home, 24.5, and Skyview, 4.
Mountain Home won the 4x200-meter relay with Tommy Miller, Stephen Bush, Layne Campos and John Payton.
Tommy Miller finished second in the 100-meter dash.
Third place efforts went to Stephen Bush in the 200-meter dash, Marco Pavicevic in the high jump, and the 4x100-meter relay team of Miller, Bush, Campos and Payton.
Other placers for Mountain Home were Layne Campos, fourth in the 400 meters, and fifth-place efforts by William Knowlden in both the hurdle events.
"Everybody ran well and they had a lot of personal bests, and they keep improving also," said Coach Urquidi of their efforts at the JV meet at Kuna. "We're really pleased with practices, everybody's working hard in practices, and it's paying off in our meets!"
This week the Tigers go to a quadrangular meet at Skyview on Thursday with the Hawks and Boise and Borah.
