Tennis team falls in tough matches to Columbia, Skyview
The Mountain Home Tigers dropped a couple conference tennis matches in tough battles with Columbia and Skyview.

The Tigers traveled to Columbia last week where the Tiger boys had strong performances against the Wildcats. In boys singles, Ricky Guadarrama lost the #1 match in two, 6-7 (TB 7-9), 2-6, Chris Oswald dropped a tough 4-6, 6-7 (TB 3-7) #2, and Andrew Martin lost at #3, 4-6, 6-7 (TB 0-7).
Mountain Home won both boys doubles matches. Jordan Niksich and Joey Miller won the #1 match, 6-3, 6-2, and Keth Galloway and Bryan Walsh won the #2 match, 6-1, 6-3.
"This is the seventh win in a row for Jordan and Joey at the number one doubles spot," said Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House. "They have had some tough matches -- many going three sets. They are really coming together as a team."
The Tiger girls all lost. Jessica Lewis lost a tough #1 match, 4-6, 4-6, Caitlyn Smith lost the #2, 0-6, 0-6, and Brittany Crownhart dropped the #3, 1-6, 1-6, both matches closer than the scores indicated.
Greg Walsh and Lindsey Kellerman lost a tough 3-6, 4-6 match in #1 mixed doubles, while Tanner Carpenter and Carina Sauter battled through two tie-breaks to win 7-6 (TB 7-5), 7-6 (TB 7-5).

Mountain Home hosted Skyview at the base courts last Thursday and were shut out by the tough Hawks.
In boys singles, Ricky Guadarrama lost the #1, 1-6, 4-6, Chris Oswald lost at #2, 3-6, 0-6, and Andrew Martin lost the #3 match, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6.
In boys doubles, Jordan Niksich and Joey Miller dropped their first match of the season, losing in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (TB 7-2), 4-6.
"Jordan and Joey played a very competitive, exciting tennis match -- it just came down to what team got their serve and shot in at critical deuce moments," said Coach House.
"They are pumped for a rematch at districts."
Keth Galloway and Bryan Walsh lost in two sets, 6-7 (TB 4-7), 2-6.
In girls singles, Jessica Lewis lost #1, 0-6, 1-6, Caitlyn Smith lost at #2, 0-6, 0-6, and Hannah Smith lost at #3, 0-6, 1-6.
In girls doubles, Allyanna Wintermote and Danielle Gorman lost the #1 match, 0-6, 2-6, and defaulted at #2.
In mixed doubles, Greg Walsh and Carolyn Bailey lost the #1 match, 1-6, 3-6, and Tanner Carpenter and Carina Sauter lost the #2, 2-6, 3-6.
"As in the previous match against Skyview, the boys and girls hit the 'Skyview buzz saw'," said Coach House. "They are a very strong team, but we did improve our performance. In our first match with them, the girls and boys won only 18 percent of the games, and this time we won 31 percent."
The Tigers were at Bishop Kelly on Monday of this week, and home on the base courts on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Tigers host Minico on the base courts Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
