Area wrestlers win gold at local club's tourney
This past weekend the Mountain Man Wrestling Club hosted the Mountain Man Challenge.
Wrestlers from all over the Treasure Valley, along with wrestlers from eastern Idaho and Nevada, showed up to compete.
Tournament champions for the club for the Friday night Greco Roman segment were: Midget Class Nicholas Shoemaker, Novice Class Tanner Sessions, Schoolboy Austin Lucas, Cadets Ryan Goldsby and Junior Ty Kleffner.
Second-place finishers were Midget class Jacob Lucas, Novice Class Jacob Wendall and Schoolboy Charlie Shoemaker.
In Freestyle Competition on Saturday first-place finishers were Pre-Bantam Tanner Keener, Novice Tanner Sessions, Schoolboy Dixon Kean, Cadets Jon Ryan and Ryan Goldsby and Juniors Kaeo Doronio and Ty Kleffner.
Second-place finishes went to Midgets Nicholas Shoemaker, Kanoa Doronio and Jacob Ryan.
Finishing third was Novice Jacob Wendall and with a fourth-place finish was Schoolboy Austin Lucas.
Next week the club will travel to Timberline High School for the Western Idaho Wrestling Association (WIWA) Memorial Tournament. This tournament will be the third annual event. The inaugural tournament was hosted by Mountain Man Wrestling. The tournament was established to raise money to help offset financial requirements for all the wrestlers within the association to attend Western Regional and national competitions.
