U13 boys smash Kuna 7-0 in youth soccer
Coach Mike Hedrick's U13 Boys delivered a 7-0 knock out punch over Kuna on Saturday, with Brenden O'Neill sending in the first goal for the Tigers, followed by Francisco Corona's four-goal performance and Ricardo Araujo adding the final two tallies.
Coach Hedrick indicated "several other players put in strong performances, such as Dustin Emerson's aggressive play at half-back and Kylar Schilz keeping the speed of the game going, including his four attempts on goal."
Brad Foreman and Francisco Corona were credited with assists on the day, while goalies Jack Richelieu and Jacob Hedrick maintained the shutout for the Mountain Home.
U13 Boys player Austin Lucas received an honor over the weekend when he was selected to play on the Olympic Development Program State Team for his age group.
The U16 Boys kept their undefeated streak alive by squeezing out a 3-3 tie with the Boise Capitals Select team.
Mountain Home scored twice in the first half on a solo run by Austin Clark and a shot by Eloy Guadarrama from the comer of the box that was placed perfectly into the upper corner of the net.
The Capitals' strong passing and control of the midfield was a true test of the defense for the Tigers. Down by one goal late in the game, Alex Martinez booted a high arching shot from midfield that bounced over the Capitals' goalies' head and into the net, securing the tie for Mountain Home.
Coach Charles Kistler's U12 Boys suffered a 7-1 loss to Caldwell, with Kaleb Stevens providing the lone score for United.
The U17 Girls were defeated 3-2 by Kuna, with Jessica Tindal and Kya Vines scoring for United and Nichole Koopman being credited with an assist.
Halfbacks Carolyn Hughes and Erika Castro provided defensive support to goalie Alicen Wendell who made several key saves in the second half to keep Mountain Home in the game.
The score report from the U14 Boys match was unavailable at press time, while the U11 Girls and U18 Boys were idle.
