U-16 boys remain unbeaten in youth soccer league play
Mountain Home Youth Soccer's U11 Girls improved its record to 4-1-1 with a 7-3 win over Middleton Gold on Saturday at City Park in Glenn's Ferry.
Kylee Carpenter provided the edge as she powered home four shots for the Co-Pilots. Teammates Aima Orr, Melissa Garza and Cassie Villavicencio added insurance goals to secure the victory.
Coach Patty Villavicencio noted, "We lost to this team 5-0 in the first game of the season. Our girls continue to improve each week and are having so much fun. Reagan Grigg and Jacie Shrum did a great job at forward for us and our defenders, Gabby Hernandez, Roni Crone, Josie Bryant and Sam Tveidt never let up in helping secure the goal area."
The U16 Boys remain undefeated after beating McCall Avalanche 5-2 at Eastside Park.
Jalen Gibbons headed home the first score on a chip cross from Austin Clark, with Blake Pachner and Eloy Guadarrama cleaning up deflected shots and finding the back of the net for one goal each. Austin Clark added the final two tallies after powering his way through defenders in the penalty box.
Strong defense by Ryan O'Neill, Chris Hall, Kendall Jackson, Zach Ireland and Isaiah Daniels shut down McCall's scoring attempts in the second half. "This was probably our best team effort so far this year. We passed the ball well in a strong offensive attack, encouraged one another and controlled the majority of the game," Coach Jeff Gibbons said.
The U18 Boys got back on the winning track by also defeating the visiting McCall Avalanche in an evenly matched contest on United's home turf.
Nick Gula finished off assists from Erick Gutierrez and JJ Barroso to secure the 2-1 win for Mountain Home.
Coach Mike Glover indicated "JJ Barroso and Lalo Martinez played solid for us at midfield today. Once again, our defenders, Chris Oswald, Lucas Marsh and Eric Weiss, were unstoppable -- they are a tough wall to get through."
The U14 Boys lost a close match with Ida-Ore, as United fell one goal short in a 5-4 loss.
Michael Daniels had a three-goal hat trick on the day and Gustavo Martinez scored a penalty kick to bring Mountain Home within reach of a tie. Coach Rob Daniels said that the boys "that really stepped up their play today include Juan Silva, Trey Breslin, Tyler McCloud, Marco Rodriguez, Anthony McKenzie and goalie Tomas Guillen. They left it all on the field and played their hearts out -- I'm really proud of this team."
The U17 Girls had a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Les Bois Vallivue, with goals from Shianna Hawley, Jessica Tindall and Adriana Garcia providing the margin of victory. "It's easy to play well when you're ahead," Coach Paul Walsh said, "but the true colors of a team are displayed when you come from behind. This was a great victory for our young ladies. Standouts for the week include Fatima Guillen in defense and Tasha Belling at midfield."
The U13 Boys were idle on Saturday and results of the U12 Boys match were unavailable at press time.
