Tennis team falls to Skyview, Columbia and Bishop Kelly
The Mountain Home Tiger tennis team had a busy week last week, dropping conference matches to Skyview, Columbia and Bishop Kelly.
Girls: Skyview 7 Mtn. Home 0
Boys: Skyview 6 Mtn. Home 1
The Mountain Home girls all lost their matches with Skyview. Casey Stevens lost the #1 singles, 0-6, 0-6, Jessica Lewis lost the #2, 1-6, 1-6, and Carina Sauter lost #3, 0-6, 0-6.
In girls doubles, Carolyn Bailey and Brittany Crownhart lost the #1, 1-6, 0-6, and Danielle Gorman and Caitlyn Smith the #2lost 0-6, 0-6.
"Many of the girls games went to deuce but they could not close out a game. That will come with more practice and match experience," said Mountain Home Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House.
In boys singles, Ricky Guadaramma lost the #1, 0-6, 1-6, Chris Oswald lost #2, 1-6, 0-6, and Andrew Martin lost the #3, 0-6, 0-6.
The boys #1 doubles team of Keth Galloway and Joey Miller lost a tough 3-6, 5-7 match, and Jordan Niksich and Bryan Walsh picked up the only win of the day in #2, wining in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In mixed doubles, Greg Walsh and Lauren Borghalthaus lost the #1 match, 0-6, 0-6, and Gabriel Stephens and Lindsey Kellerman lost #2, 5-7, 0-6.
"This year, we're back to being a young team again," said Coach House. "We have eight returning letter winners, seven former junior varsity and 16 new players. "It's a great group of kids with a lot of enthusiasm and determination to learn the game of tennis."

The Tigers played Columbia last Wednesday in a make-up of a match the previous week that was postponed because of wet weather. Weather again impacted the match, but the coaches were able to complete the match by shortening the format before the heavy rain started.
In girls singles, Jessica Lewis lost the #1 singles match, 1-6, 3-6, Casey Stevens lost the #2 in an 8-game pro-set match, 8-1, and Carina Sauter was able to get in a full match at #3, but lost, 2-6, 1-6.
In girls #1doubles, Carolyn Bailey and Brittany Crownhart battled to an eight-game pro-set tie wiped out by heavy rains. Danielle Gorman and Caitlyn Smith lost the #2 pro-set, 1-8.
In boys singles, Ricky Guadaramma lost a tough 4-6, 6-7 battle at #1. Chris Oswald
lost the #2, 4-8, and Andrew Martin lost the #3, 2-8. Jordan Niksich and Bryan Walsh won their #1 boys doubles match, 8-1, and Keth Galloway and Joey Miller won the #2 match in three sets, played as a 10-point match tie-break, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5.
In mixed doubles, Greg Walsh and Lauren Borgholthaus won the #2 pro-set, 8-0, while at #1 Gabriel Stephens and Lindsey Kellerman lost, 4-8.

Boys: Bishop Kelly 5 Mtn. Home 2
Mountain Home ended the week last Thursday with a tough match against Bishop Kelly.
The Tigers' two wins came in boys doubles. Jordan Niksich and Keth Galloway won the #1 match, 6-0, 6-4. Bishop Kelly forfeited the #2 boys doubles match.
In boys singles, Ricky Guadaramma battled but lost a tough 0-6, 0-6 #1 singles match, Joey Miller lost the #2, 4-6, 2-6, and Bryan Walsh lost the #3 match, 0-6, 5-7.
In girls action in both singles and doubles play, Mountain Home went up against Bishop Kelly's returning state qualifiers from last year and were unable to win a match, all going down, 0-6, 0-6.
In mixed doubles #1, Greg Walsh and Lauren Borghalthaus came back strong in their second set, but lost, 1-6, 5-7, and Jared Mott and Carina Sauter came up short in the #2 match, 4-6, 2-6.
The Tiger tennis team is off this week for spring break, and returns to action on Monday at Emmett.
