Don't pull troops out
Dear editor:
I read your editorial in last week's paper about the high cost of war. Nobody likes war. It is costly, as you say, in not only money but the loss of human life and human suffering.
But war and rumors of war are predicted in the Holy Bible. But still no one wants it. But what if we had no war? What if we just sat back after Japan invaded us and became involved in World War II. We would all be subject to Japan.
If we had not fought the people who attacked us on 9/11 they would have sent others and destroyed not only New York but cities all over the United States. We again would be subject to the enemy.
Under President Bush we have not had another attack. We owe this to our brave military men and women who are fighting to keep this country free. They have talked to service people on the news and they have all said they are proud to serve their country. I am proud of them and proud to be a disabled veteran of the United States Navy.
Like John Malaspina said in his letter to the editor Democrats are forgetting that they could have easily been in control on 9/11 and have yet to explain how they would have handled the situation any differently.
I think it would be a mistake to pull our people out now. We need to let the generals fight the war. They are there. Congress is not. I love the USA and do not want to see it destroyed people who are not even there.
