Hazel Steen
Hazel McAnulty Steen, 88, of Glenns Ferry, died March 4, 2008, with her daughter and granddaughter at her side.
Memorial Services were held Monday, March 10, at the Glenns Ferry United Methodist Church. Inurnment followed at Glenn Rest Cemetery in Glenns Ferry. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Hazel was born on April 9, 1919, in Glenns Ferry, to Lee and Ilvarine McAnulty.
She married J. Wilson Steen, July 9, 1938. "The family always considered the best years were those spent on the ranch north of Glenns Ferry," her family said. "Mom was a homemaker, well known for her homemade bread, always admired a good horse and spent many hours in the saddle."
She was a lifetime member of Victory Chapter #60, OES and a 50-year member of Chapter Z, PEO. Active in the ladies cattlemen associations, she was president of the Purple Sage Cow-Belles and Idaho State Cow-Belles.
She was named as the cattle association's 1998 Cattlewoman of the Year.
Hazel is survived by: her daughter, Juanita Steen; daughter in-law Connie Steen Emerson; her brothers, Lester and his wife, Elva McAnulty, and Donald and his wife, Audrey McAnulty; sister in-law Laura McAnulty; two granddaughters, two grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson, her son, Jim, her grandson, Rowdy Steen, her brother, Rex, and her sister-in-law, Leona McAnulty.
