Roger Nelson
Roger M. Nelson, 56, of Mountain Home, died peacefully at his home on Jan. 23, 2008.
A memorial celebrating Roger's life was held Monday, Jan. 28, at the First Congregational Church in Mountain Home.
Roger was born in Boise on Feb. 28, 1951, to John and Hildur Nelson. He attended Boise schools and graduated from Borah High in 1969.
"Roger was a child at heart," his family said. "This was never more evident than on Christmas morning. His joy of gift giving as well as receiving, along with the gathering of family fueled his enthusiasm even more.
"Roger's great love for Idaho expressed itself on camping trips, walking a stream or river with a fishing pole in his hand, and riding his ATV," his family continued. "It was love that he gladly passed on to his children. His love for music is best discribed by his children, remembering his music appreciation days. Hours sitting on the floor with vinyl records stewn about him, music blaring with the likes of the Beatles, Moody Blues, and Three Dog Night were among some of his favorites."
Roger was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mountain Home, where he served on the Diaconate Board. He was active in Boy Scouts, serving as cubmaster for Troop 57 and going on into Boy Scouts with his son.
Roger is survived by: his wife, Jeannine; daughter Christance Garcia; sons Steven Nelson and his wife, Ronnie, and son Brian Nelson, a grandson, and an honorary son, Gene Garcia; his brother, Jack Nelson, and his wife, Nancy.
He was preceded in death by his father, John A Nelson, his mother, Hildur Nelson, and his sister, Barbara Nelson.
